Terms and Conditions
Issued by Savill Coordinates Limited trading as Lapco
This Terms and Conditions document governs the use of Lapco’s Online shopping web site. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by this document.
Purchasing from Lapco.co.nz
You can purchase as a Guest or register as a member on the site; this is available for both general public and trade/wholesale businesses, but trade/wholesale customers will need to contact Lapco Customer Services to have their membership loaded. Apart from the many benefits which include a trade portal and receiving regular emails containing specials and industry information, your details will be filed saving you the effort of entering these details each time you checkout
After placing an order, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your order; this does not mean that your order has been accepted. Your order constitutes an offer to the supplier to buy the product. All orders are subject to acceptance by the supplier, and the supplier will confirm such acceptance by sending you an email that confirms that the product has been dispatched. The contract between the supplier and you will only be formed at that time. We will do our best to supply your order in full, at times we can be out of stock, we will send you an email to confirm if you wish to proceed with the order or cancel. We will not ship without authorisation – we need to know as soon as possible, to be able to process your order. Stock comes in all the time so you could try ordering again in a few weeks, we cannot place items on back order. Sorry for any inconvenience. For in store sales, as a Wholesaler we have a Minimum Order Policy in our showroom, all purchases must be over $30.00
The contract relates to those products whose dispatch has been confirmed by the supplier. The supplier will not be obliged to supply any other product which may have been part of your order until the dispatch of those products has been confirmed. If you are not a trade/wholesale customer on credit terms, your payment will be processed by the supplier at the time your products are dispatched. The products will be at your risk from the time of delivery. Ownership of the products will only pass to you when the supplier receives full payment of all sums due in respect of the products, including delivery charges. Please see our FAQs page
All prices and delivery charges on our site are in New Zealand dollars (NZ$). The prices on our retail portal exclude GST of 15.0%. If you are accepted as a trade customer and use our trade portal the prices you see exclude GST. For trade customers GST of 15% is calculated on the total of your order and will be shown on your order documentation. All prices are correct at time of publication; we reserve the right to alter prices and delivery charges for any reason at any time. If this should happen after you have ordered, we will contact you prior to processing your order, and will only continue if you agree. See a better price, give us the opportunity to meet or better it.
LAPCO will process your orders via the DPS system and generally there will be no need to contact you, unless you have ordered leather (see “How to order Leather” for order value variance explanation) or there is an error. You can choose to submit an order/inquiry if you want to have a quote on a product rather than a transaction. We cannot change your DPS or Paypal payment if we encounter an error in ordering.
Our usual returns policy does not apply to indent products, so please check all details carefully before ordering. Products will be produced as close to images or samples as possible. Any errors in ordering on your part will be your responsibility, and the indent product cannot be returned to Lapco for replacement or refund. If Indent products are faulty, we will meet our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act to provide a remedy. 50% deposit is required on all indent orders before we will order for you.
Payments - Email Orders, Proforma Orders
Goods will only be dispatched upon receipt of payment. Payment can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Online Banking or with an approved trade credit account. If you are paying by Online Banking you must put our order number as a reference. If you require a proforma invoice, please allow two days to receive a proforma invoice, we have to physically pick your item to send you a proforma. We expect payment within 5 working days of receipt of proforma invoice. Orders/Quotes must be paid for with in 5 working days or items will be returned to stock. We may charge a restocking fee of 15% of the value of returned products (Min. charge $10) if this happens. This also may be applied to orders incorrectly ordered and returned.
Trade Wholesale Accounts
If you are a trade customer and require wholesale pricing and wish to open either a cash account or a credit account you can contact us for either cash account or credit account application forms and current terms of trade. Conditions apply to the opening of trade accounts. Trade accounts let you access the trade portal with trade pricing. See our page on Trade and Wholesale accounts under the FAQs tab.
We only dispatch goods upon receipt of payment, unless you are a trade/wholesale customer with available credit. If the item you ordered is not in stock (our online system is updated daily, so this should not happen often) there may be up to a two week delay to order shipping, there can also be delay on indented lines. If this happens, we will inform you via email. If you do not want to wait, we can cancel your order and reverse your credit card payment. Indent orders require a 50% deposit, indent orders can only be returned if there is a product fault, as we purchase this product in on special order.
Freight and Dangerous Goods
All orders incur a freight charge. Charges will be added to your invoice, and this will be based on the size of the order and location. Dangerous goods cannot be shipped to rural delivery addresses in New Zealand or shipped internationally. . If your order contains any dangerous goods then you will be charged the Dangerous goods handling fee of $6.00 (This may change at any time). If you are ordering from outside of New Zealand, Customer Services will contact you with a quote to ship your order internationally. If you accept, then your order will be processed and your credit card charged accordingly before shipping. For details re delivery times, see our "Freight Policy"
Samples and Images
While we take every care to provide items close to our samples and images, we remind you that leather is a natural product, batch variation (which can be quite dramatic, especially in aniline leathers) will occur, a sample is a small representation of what a hide may look like and cannot be taken as representative of the hide you will receive. Colours of images can vary to individual monitors and printers; we are not responsible for any inaccuracies. Please pay this close consideration when ordering. Always order extra hides if colour consistency is critical to your project.
Acceptance of Leather Products
We recommend you check the hides prior to cutting or marking or changing the hides from their original state, as this action constitutes acceptance of the product. Leather is a beautiful natural product, variations will occur, as will holes, Brahman zippers (this is from the removal of the hump from Brahman cattle), scars, marks and fold lines. These are standard with leathers internationally and are natural characteristics not flaws.
Things to check:
You have the correct quantity, colour and leather type that you ordered.
There are variations in deliveries from dye lot to dye lot. Please check dye lots before cutting the leather you have received.
That there are no flaws that are uncharacteristic of leather. We are not responsible if you or the person making your project put a brand, mark, scar or tick mark (common characteristics of leather) in an area you or your client is not happy with. We recomend reading our FAQs page
Goods cannot be returned without permission from a LAPCO Representative.

Leather thickness, size and shape
All our leathers are measured for thickness and hide area size at the supplying tanneries, by accurate digital machinery to +/- 5% accuracy. Hide area is calculated using EVERY piece of leather when the hide is laid flat, and hides are graded carefully for accurate thickness per specs. Please be aware a ruler used to estimate will not accurately measure leather thickness or hide area. Only professionally calibrated callipers and flat bed digital hide scanners can be trusted.
If you return hides for supposed inaccuracies of area or thickness, and we find it to be per specifications, you will be charged a restocking fee of 15% of the value of the returned product (Min. charge $10).
If you disagree, you agree for us to send the disputed hide to LASRA (www.lasra.co.nz) for professional analysis and report, and if we are proved right you agree to be charged for all costs incurred as a result.
The items must be returned in original saleable condition. Please take care to package goods carefully in the same form they were dispatched to you. If we are unable to sell the goods due to damage between sustained to goods, we reserve the right to charge you for any looses we incur
Unless we have made an error you will need to organise the return to us via a courier. If you want us to organise the return, you will be quoted first and charged for returning the goods. However, if you are returning an item for exchange (i.e. the same style is being changed for a different size or colour), we may waive the redelivery charge depending on the value of the order.
Please enclose a copy of your invoice with returns.
Goods can be returned in person to our showroom.
We may charge a restocking fee of 15% of the value of the returned product (Min. charge $10) for orders incorrectly ordered and returned

Defective or incorrectly supplied Products
For products you claim are defective or supplied by us incorrectly, we will happily replace the products on receipt of the returned goods to us, and we will reimburse any courier charges you incur in the process once we inspect the returned goods to confirm the error is indeed ours (Note: Returns Policy point 1 above applies for incorrectly supplied goods). On confirmation of any error on our part, we will at our discretion either credit you the full purchase price including shipping fees in the same method as your original payment, OR ship replacement products immediately with no additional shipping fee.
If a package your order arrives in is clearly damaged as a result of courier mishandling, please take photos of the package BEFORE opening, in case we need to make an insurance claim against our courier company. If you find the product inside damaged, please send us the photos along with you claim so we can chase it with our courier as well.
Please be aware of the natural characteristics of leather and leather types, that are not defects, scars, holes, and leathers that mark, or have colour variation are not defects.
While LAPCO makes every endeavour to ensure that its products meet the highest standards as to quality, fitness and compliance with description, and every care is taken over selection of animal hides, no responsibility is accepted for wear and no warranty is given relating to natural product variation, variations from photograph, description or sample swatch to physical product, and the effects of any subsequent manufacturing processes. Because most of our items are made from natural products, there may be some irregularities and variations in colour and texture. These traits are characteristic of fine leather and skin and add to the beauty and character of our products
