LATIGO OILED LEATHER

Latigo leather undergoes a very specific process. It is a cowhide leather that is double tanned; it is first chrome tanned before receiving a heavy vegetable tanning. Following that process, it is placed in a stuffing drum where it is infused with oils and waxes. A drum dyeing process then ensures a uniform colour. The double tanning method gives the leather tensile strength and water resistance while maintaining the look and feel of vegetable tanned leather. Products made with latigo leather are able to withstand repeated contact with water and to then be dried without drying out.

Latigo leather is the best of both worlds – described as moderately flexible, less rigid than fully vegtan leather, while the chrome tanning adds to the flexibility. This intense process means that Latigo leathers aren’t the cheapest in the range but are strong, supple leathers with maximum durability.
